Birth Control Pills May Become Over the Counter Option
The FDA has lowered the age for women who want to buy the morning after pill to 15, but the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists would like to take the measure a step further and make birth control pills, such as Plan B, available for over the counter purchase. Dr. Gargey Patil of Loch Haven OB/GYN explains that the estrogen in birth control pills is what separates them from the morning after pill, making them more dangerous and causing opponents to insist that women should continue to see a doctor before they take birth control pills.
